What is a Lottery Mentality? Mostly it’s pure laziness.
You pay a dollar for a very slim chance at winning Millions Of Dollars. You wait for the drawing, you didn’t win.
Surprise, surprise, you have better chance at being Struck By Lightning, twice.
A Lottery Mentality means that you expect and demand Massive Results from little or no effort. You want to spend one or two hours on-line and be rich forever.
You want a pig’s butt to be beef, you want life to be fair.
You want to be Sleeping Beauty, to rest comfortably until Prince Charming takes you away to live happily ever after.
The real questing is,
“WHY?”
Why do so many people, after having to work hard, usually very hard, to get anything out of life expect an ATM Slot to magically appear on their computers?
They’ve been lied to, repeatedly.
And they bought the lie, hook, line, and sinker.
These are two of the email titles I got today:
- Mike – Copy… Paste… Profit… in 2 hours!
- Mike, 2 Hours Left To Make Serious Money, Guaranteed
I almost never open an email with these kinds of titles, at least not anymore. Why?
Because they all say almost the same thing:
“Hey Friend,
This guy I know is making a killing on-line. He brings in over$1,000.00 an hour, even while he sleeps.
John’s got an amazing story. He was broke, barefoot, and living in a cardboard box down by the beach.
He had to collect beer cans to pay for Internet access at an Internet Cafe.
Working twenty to thirty minutes a day on-line, he couldn’t afford more time, he made nearly a quarter of a million dollars in just under four weeks.
If you jump in Right Now you can ride His Cash Wave To Freedom.
Only $77.00.”
My God, it makes me want to throw everything away, be homeless so I can be RICH next month.
But let’s break it down. If he made that kind of money in only four weeks,
- Why was he living in a Cardboard Shack after the first week?
- Why doesn’t he have any shoes?
- Why could he not afford more Internet Time, he was making over $60,000.00 a week.
- Why is he selling this Amazing Money Making System for only $77.00?
Because it never really happened, not to him or anyone else.
So why make the claim?
It gets people excited, and excited people don’t think straight. They start to dream, “What If?”
After they buy the system they find it complicated and confusing. Even the refund process is hard to figure out.
And Tomorrow:
Wow, look at this!
This is IT, The One To Make Me RICH!
Yesterday’s scam is already forgotten.
You see, the “people” that make these kind of claims are preying on those who are looking for the “Quick Fix”
They know the people that buy their line of BS won’t follow through with much of anything.
If they start the course they won’t finish it. Something else will come along and distract them. The Next Big Thing.
They aren’t interested in starting a business to build a better life for themselves and their families.
They are just chasing a dream. Tilting at Windmills.
Now, there is nothing wrong with chasing a dream. We all have dreams of a better life.
I’m chasing a dream too. But I’m catching mine.
- I wanted to learn how to write, I did. Well, sort of, I’m still learning. Always will be.
- I wanted to be a writer. I am. Maybe not the best. Definitely not the worst.
Are you catching your dreams?
Do you really want to?
I can tell you how.
If you want to make money on-line you need to find something that works.
I know exactly where you can find something that will work for you, if you want it to.
Look in a Mirror. That is the only thing you need to work for you. YOU.
The rest you can find. If you work at it. Only if you work at it.
Lose the Lottery Mentality. You will stay broke until you do. Buying product after product searching in vain for Overnight Success. Wasting your money instead of investing in yourself.
That’s how a Lottery Mentality will keep you BROKE.
How will a Lottery Mentality keep you stupid?
As long as you are running all over Hell and back looking for the thing that will make you rich, the quick fix, you will never learn how to build an income on-line.
Settle down, learn the steps you need to build an on-line business.
Yes, it will take time. But you will get there. Once you begin.

Excellent post! I once heard someone refer to the lottery mentality as being hooked on “Hopeium”. It is the lazy route like you say and also demonstrates that the person does not seriously want to take responsibility for their own destiny.

Hopeium sounds pretty addictive, I think there needs to be a support group.

Excellent post! I don’t think I’ve ever seen it put so succinctly. And I really like the questions you posed to the alleged millionaire.
I want to supply information so people avoid scams and hokum, and learn and grow and develop so they can change their world to however they want it.

Hi Alan,
You see all of these “Fill in the Blanks” products to promote, well anything. If it worked once it’ll work again. It just adds to the hype on-line.
Another recurring theme I didn’t bring up because the post was getting too long,
“I was broke, living in a run down trailer in a third rate trailer park…” If it ever really happened I don’t think anyone would actually talk about it.
Human nature says that as soon as someone makes it big they will change their history to put themselves in the best possible light. Look at Madona.
Portraying yourself as a pathetic loser goes against basic human nature.

Hey Mike great discription of all the hype out there on the net, you have to turn off the noise and focus on your plans and find a strategy the works for you, it will take time but you have to keep on working at it.

Welcome to my blog.
A focused plan is the best stategy. The problem with filtering out the noise is it can take some time to adjust your filter, you need some of the noise.
The trick is finding the right frequency.
